In this infographic of Banff, I wanted to showcase information as though someone was considering moving there, and so I chose information like population, climate, renter occupancy and other datatypes that the average tourist wouldn’t find as useful as others. The types of graphs that I utilized are: bar charts, graphic devices, pie charts and line graphs. I used the bar charts for the tourist information, the mountains, as well as the population while I used the pie chart for renter occupancy and the line graph for climate information. For all of my bar charts I utilized some type of imagery to provide visual interest, but especially for the tourist information and mountains where I used icons of people and mountains. When I first began looking for data to utilize in my project I was astounded at how many tables of numbers there were, with no attempt made at visualization. I had to extract a lot of the information myself, rather than recreate already existing graphs.
